In response to the allegations, the WWE Board of Directors launched an investigation and hired an outside law firm to conduct an independent review of the company's policies and procedures. The investigation concluded earlier this year, and the board has since taken steps to implement changes to the company's policies and procedures.
In a statement, McMahon acknowledged the seriousness of the allegations and expressed his commitment to ensuring a safe and respectful workplace for all WWE employees.
“I take these allegations very seriously, and I am committed to ensuring that the WWE is a safe and respectful workplace for all employees,” McMahon said. “I have agreed to reimburse the board for the costs associated with the investigation and am fully supportive of the steps that the board has taken to address these issues.”
The payment by McMahon to the board is expected to be made in installments over the next several years, according to sources familiar with the matter. The WWE has declined to comment on the matter.
